My Life as a Fake is a 2003 novel by Australian writer Peter Carey based on the Ern Malley hoax of 1943, in which two poets created a fictional modernist, Ern Malley, and submitted poems in his name to the literary magazine Angry Penguins. John Gerald Schwegmann, Jr., (August 14, 1911 - March 6, 1995) was a pioneer in the development of the modern supermarket. He owned eighteen stores in the Greater New Orleans area, based from Metairie, a large unincorporated city in Jefferson Parish.
